Greek oregano is an essential seasoning for Greek cuisine, consisting of oregano flowers and leaves.
Its flavor is spicy and intense, enhanced by drying.
Besides its use as a seasoning, it is also utilized in herbal medicine, dating back to Ancient Greece.
It is a perennial plant, and its quality is considered the best worldwide. Beyond its distinctive aroma and flavor in food, it is known for its many medicinal properties.
Oregano is anti-diarrheal, anti-inflammatory, and bactericidal. In infusion forms, it is used for intestinal sluggishness, acts as an expectorant for cough, and helps with hypertension and arteriosclerosis.

Studies have shown that oregano has 42 times more antioxidant action than apples, 30 times more than potatoes, 12 times more than oranges, and 4 times more than berries, making it a powerful antioxidant.
It is rich in calcium, magnesium, zinc, iron, potassium, copper, boron, manganese, and vitamins C and A.

Usage as a seasoning:

Aromatic herb ideal for pork, fish, meats, legumes, salads, and potatoes.

Usage as a tea:

It is also recommended for tea preparation, as the oils in oregano tea help with relaxation, relieve muscle pain, combat dysmenorrhea, and support the proper functioning of the digestive system.
To prepare an infusion:
Add one teaspoon of oregano to a cup of boiling water (90°C), leave it for 8–10 minutes and then strain.
